It is illegal to drive in South Carolina during a time when your driving privileges are suspended or revoked by the state that issued your drivers' license.  If you are caught driving while your license is suspended, you will be charged with Driving Under Suspension (DUS). The penalties for DUS can be severe. If convicted, you can be sentenced to pay a fine or serve jail time AND your drivers' license will be suspended for an additional time period. You will also be required to obtain SR-22 insurance for three (3) years and pay reinstatment fees.

If your license was suspended due to a DUI conviction and you are caught driving outside of your specified restrictions, the punishment is more severe than a regular DUS.

Please contact us to discuss the specifics of your case or use the contact request form and someone from our office will contact you.
